6 Ways to Keep Your Skin Hydrated and Healthy This Winter

We cannot start this article with Winter is coming as it’s already here, but it’s not over yet and there are a couple of things that we need to discuss. It seems that we’re mostly paying attention to our bodies and face come spring so that we could look our best for the upcoming summer. However, winter is also quite an important season, especially because it can affect both our bodies and our skin, so it’s of utmost importance to take care of our skin even in the coldest of months. So if your skincare routine for winter is non-existent, you need to change this ASAP, unless you want to look like a zombie from Walking Dead. But there are people who have no clue how to properly take care of their skin, and if this is the case with you as well, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Shaving

Having a beard is extremely popular nowadays, so if you’re a bearded guy, the first business you need to get down to is washing your face regularly and use the best beard care products so, that your beard does not irritate your skin.. Apart from that, knowing which razors to use while shaving is extremely important as well, even though it might not seem so. There are plenty of razors on the market, but you need to choose ones that are good to your skin type, so please say goodbye to the cheap ones. Moreover, make sure that you’re using a good aftershave in order to hydrate your skin properly – this will give you extra protection that you need after shaving.

2. Skincare routine 101

Skincare routine

You don’t have to be an expert in order to know the most important elements of each skincare routine, but if you’re a newbie, let’s help you out. The two most important things are cleansing and moisturizing, and you need to incorporate these two at least twice in your daily skincare routine. Make sure you wash your face with a good cleanser every morning and night in order to get rid of the unnecessary dirt that’s being accumulated on your face, and use a moisturizer in order to keep your skin fresh and elastic. In order to keep the elasticity of your skin in perfect condition, you can also hydrate your skin by using a good serum that’s rich in antioxidants – this will definitely help you in keeping your skin healthy. You can also choose firming or wrinkle fighting serums if you want to – this can’t hurt at all.

4. Time for exfoliating

Apart from cleansing and exfoliating, it’s very important to know how to properly exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. Get yourself a good exfoliator or a face scrub and use it every time you have a chance. This is quite an important step, as dead cells always accumulate on our face, and this is the way to get rid of them.

4. No hot showers

shower

What many people fail to understand is that taking a burning-hot shower while it’s freezing outside is not the best idea, even though it may feel heavenly. This is not good for the skin as hot water and steam will make your skin lose a lot of moisture. Not only is this unhealthy for your skin, but also for your beard (if you have one) – you don’t want it to get used to high temperatures and then take it out in the cold.

5. Water is important

You might be using the widest range of products for your face, but you won’t keep your face properly hydrated without the use of water. First of all, make sure that you drink plenty of water each day. Experts disagree on the actual amount of water you are supposed to drink per day, but drinking a liter and a half or two liters per day is a good start. In order not to forget to drink water (which is, for some reason, a thing we all forget), always have a small bottle by your side. You can also pay attention to the humidity in your living room/bedroom. You can use a humidifier or keep bowls of water on your radiators.

6. See a dermatologist

If you’re facing certain more complex issues with your skin, it would be very good to visit a dermatologist. After all, they are the experts and they will tell you exactly which products are good for your skin and which you should be avoiding. Asking for help is never embarrassing; it might be a bit pricy but it’s worth it.

Now that you’ve read this article, don’t press play on the new episode of your TV show, but go to the bathroom and put some moisturizer first. It’s not difficult to care about your skin in the winter, is it?
